Roscommon sees highest jump in house prices last year

The report also shows that house prices fell for the first time in the decade over the first three months of this year

Roscommon has recorded the highest jump in house prices across the country in the last year.

That's the finding of the latest Daft.ie property report which reveals the average cost of a home in the county now stands at €193,445.

Roscommon reported a rise of 10.8% in the space of 12 months.

Leitrim house prices rose by 4.6% since last year, with the average property now costing €171,718.

On average, house prices in Longford are now around €185,214.

Although each of the three Shannonside counties have recorded price increases, they still remain in the top four least expensive areas in the country.

The report also showed that Irish house prices have fallen in value for the first time since 2012.

It shows prices fell by 0.3% nationally in the first three months of this year.

Pat Davitt, CEO of the Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers, says estate agents have been seeing changing market conditions.
