Roscommon has already seen more commencement notices recorded so far this year compared to the entire of 2023. New statistics have been released by the Department of Housing. A Commencement Notice is a notification to a Building Control Authority that a person intends to carry out works or a material change of use to a building. Counties in the Shannonside region have seen some of the lowest recorded in the country so far this year.
So far this year, Co. Roscommon has seen 131 commencement notices recorded compared to 108 during 2023. There has been a low level in Co. Leitrim so far in 2024 with just 52. The county had 129 notices recorded last year. Finally, in Co. Longford, 83 commencement notices have been recorded to date in 2024 compared to 117 for the entire of 2023.
