Roscommon sees second highest level of pub closures nationally

The county has seen 81 pub closures over the last 20 years which is a 31.9% drop.

Roscommon has seen the second highest percentage of pub closures since 2005. In a new report by the Drinks Industry Group of Ireland, the county has seen 81 pub closures over the last 20 years which is a 31.9% drop. Leitrim and Longford are ranked 11th and 12th respectively on the report with a 27% decrease in both counties.

On average, 114 bars nationally are shutting every year, with Limerick and Cork also recording high numbers. Economist Anthony Foley says certain years since 2005 have been particularly bad:
