A Roscommon solar panel provider is welcoming plans to scrap VAT on their installation.
Minister Eamon Ryan made the announcement over the weekend, a move which will bring down the cost of installing solar panels by around 1,000 euro.
David Doherty of Switch2Solar in Ballinlough says this has made solar power more affordable and within people's budgets.
The change is expected to be introduced in the Spring Finance Bill.
Speaking on Let's Talk David says when coupled with an SEAI grant it will make a significant difference.
"It's going to make a fairly significant difference to, particularly, bigger systems and a lot of people have gone from a mid-size system to a bigger system in the last year because of the price of electricity, they're looking to get on as much solar as possible. I have one customer who's going to benefit €2,225 and that's quite a significant saving. It is now bringing systems into people's budget".
