A Roscommon deputy believes the Government's treatment of local jobs club staff is shameful and extremely disappointing.
The employment service based in Ballaghaderreen has been in existence since 1999, however, due to a government decision to replace the service the club will cease operations on August 31st.
Sinn Fein TD Claire Kerrane says staff at the west Roscommon office are unaware of their employment status at the end of the month.
In a statement on social media County Roscommon Jobs Club stated the service had supported countless individuals with their job seeking efforts as well providing further training and education.
Deputy Kerrane believes staff who have given over 20 years' service deserve to be treated better by Government.
''It's going to be an immense loss to local communities. As I've said to Minister Humphreys, it is a decision that she will regret if the results of job path is anything to go by because privatisation doesn't work. We need to support job seekers and people that are seeking employment. The best way to do that was through our job clubs. And as I said, it is deeply regrettable and disappointing as regards how they've been treated. The staff there who've given so much over the years deserved far better from this government.''
