A Roscommon TD is calling on Government to set up a compensation fund for people damaged by state-funded vaccination programmes.
Denis Naughten says a unit was promised three years ago to compensate those whose children suffered adverse reactions.
It was intended to spare families from stressful and costly court action, however it's still not in place.
The Independent TD says while the numbers involved are small, the issues they're facing are significant.
'We need to acknowledge that there are a small number of people who will be damaged while the overall population would significantly benefit from a vaccination programme. Why not acknowledge the small risks that are there and treat those people properly rather than dragging them through the courts to try and find legal liability on the state before they get the supports that they so urgently need.'
