A Roscommon TD is calling on the Government to provide funding to establish a comprehensive set of transport supports for people with a disability.
Deputy Denis Naughton tabled a motion in the Dáil this week which urges the state to ensure those with disabilities have greater access to both public and private transport.
He says people have been in a nine year lockdown since the Government suspended the Mobility Allowance and Motorised Transport Grant for new applicants in 2013.
Deputy Naughten believes it's unfair these people are isolated as a result.
