A Roscommon TD has described the passing of the landmark EU Nature Restoration Law as a 'black day' for Irish farmers.
Independent Ireland TD Michael Fitzmaurice said the law would have devastating consequences for many landowners in this region.
The long-mooted law commits EU countries to restoring one-fifth of natural habitats by the end of the decade.
Deputy Fitzmaurice said the passing of the law was further proof that EU law now supercedes Irish law.
