A Roscommon TD is calling on the Environment Minister to directly engage with Bord Na Mona on the lack of jobs promised by the company for former workers this summer.
Independent TD Denis Naughten says just two out of every five jobs promised within the company for bog rehab works across the region have been filled so far.
The information was given to him after he raised the issue in the Dail in recent days, and shows that 152 people have been offered work to date , including 15 in Longford and 5 in Roscommon.
The largest amount of jobs so far have been allocated in Offaly with 87 positions offered there and 27 have been filled in Galway.
Deputy Naughten says with the time for working on the bog already well underway, there's a growing concern that seasonal workers won't be offered anything this year.
