A Roscommon teacher is calling on students across the country to lead the way in helping integrate Ukrainian refugees.
Teresa Silke is a teacher at the Roscommon Youth Reach Centre, who this week helped organise a cultural exchange with refugees staying at the Donamon Visitors Centre.
Following a fundraising event by students for Ukrainian's sheltering locally, over €400 was raised to help families in the Donamon Centre.
Students invited residents from the centre to come to Roscommon Youth Reach and cook traditional Ukrainian dishes, with the ingredients sponsored by the Roscommon Lions Club.
The event was warmly welcomed by the refugees, who do not have access to kitchen facilities in Donamon.
