A Roscommon teenager who wants to study law at third level says she'd like to help tackle discrimination against Travellers in her job.
Latisha McCrudden was awarded the Education prize at this year's Traveller Pride Awards for her outstanding academic achievement.
She's won awards in Scifest for two years, as well as competing in the BT Young Scientist competition.
Latisha has also won medals in the Gaisce Presidents Award and the Pope John Paul II Award.
She's currently doing 9 honour-level subjects for the Leaving Cert and hopes to study law at third level.
Latisha says she'd like to be an advocate for her community if she's successful in becoming a solicitor.
'You can make such a positive change and you'd be able to be a voice for the Traveller community, just along with everybody else, in the workplace that I would hope to get into.
I'm just hoping that being a part of that , and hopefully coming out with a degree in law, and eventually becoming a solicitor in Ireland, that I'll be making a breakthrough for the Traveller community, and that I'll be able to use my voice where maybe others may not be able to.'
