Roscommon teenager Latisha McCrudden has won the Education award at this year's Traveller Pride Awards.
The awards ceremony takes place this afternoon in the Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield.
They mark the beginning of a fortnight of various events across the country aimed at building better relations between the Traveller and settled communities.
Latisha, who has just finished her 5th year in secondary school is being given her award following years of outstanding educational achievement.
She achieved A's across the board in her Junior Cert, as well as receiving a distinction in her Transition Year Programme.
Latisha is currently doing 9 honour-level subjects for the Leaving Cert and wants to go on and study law at third level in the hopes of becoming a lawyer.
