The Chairperson of Roscommon Town is defending the towns poor rating in the latest IBAL litter league.
The rating system for over 40 towns around the country is published today and shows Roscommon in 29th place.
It's fallen five places since the previous report.
Two littered car parks combined with poorly maintained laneways are a key part of the town receiving a littered status.
Chairperson of Roscommon Tidy Towns Kathleen Shanagher says while improvements need to be made, some areas reported as littered are in private ownership, and are not in the remit of the county council.
