Roscommon is set to benefit from a new late evening train service.
The new 7:35pm service from Dublin Heuston will begin operation on December 10th.
It's expected the train will serve Roscommon at 9:20pm and Castlerea at 9:40pm.
The new service will operate at 4:20pm from Westport to Athlone and 9:08pm from Athlone to Wesport.
The 9:08pm service from Athlone to Westport will also have a connection at Manulla Junction to and from Ballina.
The extra service will mean that there will now be five services available from Dublin Heuston to Westport daily, and six from Westport to Heuston.
The new service will run six days a week and has been approved by the National Transport Authority.
