Roscommon County Council is set to introduce a specialised team as part of efforts to keep public spaces clean.
The news comes following calls from Councillor John Cummins for the provision of mechanical footpath sweepers as part of Budget 2024.
Responding to a motion from Councillor Cummins at the September meeting of the local authority, the Council said it was proposing the introduction of a fully equipped team to maintain public spaces.
The proposal was made in light of significant investment in Public Realm Enhancement projects in recent years,
Councillor Cummins said it was regrettable that a certain percentage of funding for public realm works wasn't made available for the future upkeep of completed projects.
