Tourism Ireland welcomed eight American journalists to County Roscommon recently, where they visited local tourist sites.
Many of the group are members of the Outdoor Writers' Association of America, which includes writers, digital content creators and podcasters, who have a combined audience of millions of readers and followers.
The writers' itinerary focused on 'green' experiences and adventure and included Lough Key Forest Park, where they experienced Boda Borg and enjoyed lunch in the Lakeside Café.
Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland's Head of America, said the journalists were impressed with their visit to Roscommon and would encourage their readers and followers to come and experience Ireland's outdoor activities and scenery for themselves.
She added that the United States remains an extremely important market for tourism to the island of Ireland.
In 2019, Ireland welcomed 1.7 million American visitors, whose visits delivered €1.6 billion for the economy.
