Roscommon University Hospital has welcomed the publication of a HIQA inspection into St Coman's Medical Ward, the Injury Unit and the Medical Assessment Unit at the hospital.
The inspection was carried out in RUH in March to monitor compliance with the National Standards for Safer Better Healthcare.
The Hospital was compliant with three National Standards, substantially compliant with six National Standards and partially compliant with two National Standards.
In a statement released this afternoon, the Saolta Hospital Group says It was encouraging to see such positive feedback about staff reflected in the report.
The Hospital group states that significant work has been carried out by the hospital in all areas where compliance issues were highlighted with the remainder of action plans to be completed by the end quarter three of 2023.
In response to risks highlighted in infection prevention and control measures the hospital says they will continue to progress the development of a new 50 bed medical ward block at the hospital, which will provide all single occupancy rooms with en-suite facilities.
Management paid tribute to what they called the incredible commitment and dedication of staff in providing a patient centred approach.
