A vaccine centre for Roscommon has opened today at the Abbey Hotel in Roscommon town

People with any concerns over the AstraZeneca vaccine are being asked to contact their GP or consultant ahead of taking up an appointment for a vaccine.

Over 300 people including health care workers and high-risk groups in Cohort 4 will be vaccinated by this evening at the mass vaccination centre in Roscommon which is now up and running. It's expected that once supplies become available up to 1,000 people a day will receive their jab at the Abbey Hotel.

The AstraZeneca vaccine will be delivered to people 69 and under, with the over 70s being taken care of by GP-led clinics. People will receive the appointments by text and those without a mobile will be called directly.
