Garda investigations are ongoing into the burglary in Flanagan's in Castleplunkett last Thursday morning at around 4 o'clock.

An investigation has also been launched into the theft of a vehicle from a private property in the county overnight.

The occupants of the car were disturbed during a break in and left the scene in a black VW Golf.

Sinn Féin TD Claire Kerrane brought the issue of falling Garda numbers in the region to the floor in the last hour following a spate of recent burglaries.

Fianna Fail does not currently have a seat in the constituency.

It was revealed at the meeting that the amount of Gardaí stationed in the Castlerea/Boyle district has decreased by 50% since 2012.
