In Roscommon a 25-year-old man was killed in a single vehicle collision near Athleague yesterday morning.

The driver, a man in his early 20s was fatally injured when the car he was driving overturned.

Two people are in 'stable condition' in hospital after the crash, which happened at a level crossing near Claremorris at 3.15pm.

The tragedy has hit the county less than a week after a crash in Clonemel took the lives of four young people.

It's expected the road will remain closed for a number of hours.

The R325 at Drumnaslassan near Ballaghaderreen has reopened following a two-car collision this morning.

The Lanesboro Road coming out of Ballymahon is currently closed and is set to remain so for the morning.

The young man who died after yesterday's tragic road traffic incident has been named as 19 year old Martin McDonnell.
