Judgment has been reserved in an action taken by a suspended Roscommon solicitor hoping to block an inquiry into allegations of professional misconduct.
Declan O’Callaghan, of Pound Street, Ballaghaderreen, claims the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT) acted beyond its powers in how it conducted an inquiry into his alleged conduct in the sale of lands in Mayo over 15 years ago.
Mr O Callaghan is facing claims of professional negligence in relation to his alleged conduct in a land deal involving a Co.Mayo company 15 years ago.
It's claimed that he purported to act for the vendor and purchaser in a transaction where it was alleged there was a clear conflict of interest
In his judicial review application, Mr O'Callaghan is seeking a high court order restraining the Solicitors Disciplinary tribunal form continuing its inquiry into a complaint made.
Mr o Callaghan denies the company's allegations.
A barrister for the SDT said the tribunal was not minded to simply abandon an inquiry on the basis of a technical arguments made on behalf of the Roscommon man.
Following the two day hearing, Mr Justine Anthony Barr said on Wednesday he would rule as soon as, possible on Mr O'Callaghan's attempt to halt the inquiry.
