Irish countryside will be wiped out if the forestry deal goes ahead.
That's the view of Gerry Loftus founder of the Rural Ireland Organisation he feels the arrangement between Coillte and Gresham House must be stopped.
He believes the planting of thousands of acres of new forest will only result in the removal of people from villages and parishes across rural Ireland.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, Gerry, who is attending the protest says this only the start of the campaign.
"There is every point in having a protest and this is the first of many protests and seeing that the Minister McConalogue has confirmed that himself and Minister Pippa Hackett are aware of this since 2021, we would be calling for them to immediately resign their positions. They're unfit for purpose with no public consultation with anybody. What does this have to do with climate change because we're selling the land to these people in London, they will own the land, they will own the trees, and they own the carbon credits"
