There's a sense of sadness in Ballymahon town this week following news of the death of a well-loved local dog.
Marley was a dog who spent many hours outside the Supervalu shop in town for several years, meeting and greeting customers.
He lived just across the road from the shop and seemed to enjoy his position as an honorary member of staff in the local supermarket.
Anne Marie Maguire, SuperValu manager, says all the staff have been upset to hear of Marley's passing in recent days.
"It started off that he would be outside and he would meet and greet the customers. Very good customer service! He was greeted with a treat. If the customer hadn't got a treat coming into the shop, they would make sure they had something going out of the shop for Marley. He was delighted. He would follow people to the car to see if there was the possibility of a second treat. He'd stay from lunchtime right up until nine'o clock most nights. You would turn the key and Marley would toddle off over the road".
