Eamon Scanlon Fianna Fail and independent Marian Harkin take final two seats

Eamon Scanlon and Marian Harkin have claimed the final two seats in Sligo-Leitrim.

Both Scanlon and Harkin were elected on the 13th count without reaching the quota. The 13th count saw the distribution of Martin Kenny’s surplus.

Scanlon (FF) took third place behind Frank Feighan (FG) and Martin Kenny (SF) with 10,285 votes. Including a transfer of 316 votes from Kenny.

Whereas, Marian Harkin (Ind) received 1,339 votes to finish with 10,168. Michael Clarke of Independent Ireland finished the count on 9,287 and took fifth place.
