A Longford secondary school has been granted permission to change the use of a former printing company premises.
The Board of management of Mean Scoil Mhuire in Longford Town applied for retention of planning permission, change of use of the site and for further works at the former Turner's Print Works on Convent Road in late June.
The Longford school first leased the defunct printing company building in 2020 in order to provide essential classroom space to comply with social distancing regulations during the pandemic.
The school has been promised a new site off the N4 and in the interim, they sought permission for works to include internal alterations to stairs, provision of a SEN unit and the addition of an AOV smoke ventilation unit to the front stairwell.
Longford County Council planners have now granted permission, subject to 11 conditions, including confining the building to educational purposes only.
