The national school's pupil numbers have doubled over the past 10 years and it is now spread over two campuses, due to overcrowding.

He met the school's new committee, who told him the current facilities are inadequate and there is an overcrowding problem.

The school says 6 current classrooms are sub-standard and traffic congestion caused by children being dropped off is having a detrimental effect.

The Leitrim Pride March 2023 is starting at Scoil Mhuire, Dublin Road, Carrick on Shannon, at 1pm.

The special needs unit includes a central activity space, multi-sensory room, office, storage, and toilets.

The school caters for well over 100 students from the surrounding area

A plan will soon be drawn up.

The school has been promised a brand new site off the N4.
