Parents in the Shannonside region are being warned that extended screen time can result in a higher risk of shortsightedness in children.
That's according to the President of Optometrist Association of Ireland and Roscommon businessman John Wheldon who says the issue can have long-term
effects on people's lives.
Certain professions such as the Gardaí, Defense forces or professional drivers will not accept people with a certain level of shortsightedness.
According to studies older a child gets, the less impactful screens are on their development, with adults also advised not to maintain screen time over 40 to 50 minutes at a time.
