Seat reservations and people sitting in pre-booked seats were the most commonly made complaint on local rail services last year.
Over 1,600 were made to Iarnród Eireann in 2022 by passengers traveling on the Dublin to Galway and Dublin to Sligo Routes.
Figures released to Shannonside FM under the Freedom of Information Act show over 1,800 complaints were made during 2022 on the two routes.
A breakdown of the figures reveals that the Dublin Hueston to Galway Route, that serves Athlone, Roscommon and Ballinasloe, recorded twice the number of complaints as it's neighbouring line.
651 complaints were made by passengers traveling between Sligo and Dublin in the 12 month period, with seat issues or reservation problems the number one reason for people to contact Irish Rail.
That's followed by issues with the public transport body's website and online ticket purchase portal.
531 passengers contacted Iarnród Eireann over difficulties purchasing tickets online, sourcing them at the station or finding details on train time tables on the website.
Other passengers took issue with the services timekeeping, with 172 passengers complaining over delayed trains, while 111 members of the public contacted Irish Rail over what they said were issues with rude staff.
