A second day of consultation is taking place at the Landmark Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon today about the proposed by-pass of the Leitrim county town.
A large number of local residents visited the display of maps yesterday to talk to consultants about concerns they have for their homes or land as a result of what is planned.
This second day of consultation runs from 2 this afternoon until 8 this evening and it's likely to see another large cohort of concerned people, particularly from the Attirory and Cortober areas which have the largest population densities likely to be affected.
Some concerns expressed included:
"It's badly wanted but then again it's not everyone's cup of tea. No one wants it at their back door which might be very noisy, there will be problems. I'd say it will go ahead anyway."
"Our biggest concern was the flooding. It happens every year and it comes quite close to our homes. If you are putting a road in there in a big flood area where is all the water going to go."
"Depending on the levels that it is constructed at, it definitely will interfere with noise wise and the access to the town is questionable at the moment."
