A single option for the route of the Dublin to Galway greenway should be identified by July or August and it's hoped that agreement can be reached substantially by voluntary agreement.
That's according to executive engineer Michael Kelly who says that a second public consultation on the project between Athlone and the east side of Galway is to begin at the end of January.
The second consultation follows on from a series last August and it may take place online due to Covid-19 restrictions.
The purpose of this second round is to get feedback from the public and property owners on five proposed options.
A single option is due to be identified by this summer.
