Ballinasloe senator Aisling Dolan is set to be added to the Fine Gael general election ticket in Roscommon-Galway.
Shannonside FM understands she will be the candidate chosen to replace John Naughten, who died earlier this month.
The south Roscommon councillor lost his life only two weeks after beating Senator Dolan in a selection convention.

Arigna woman Dympna Daly-Finn was also chosen at the convention.
Senator Dolan is expected to be confirmed as her running mate within the next 24 hours, making up a two-person ticket in the constituency.
