Senator Eugene Murphy believes Fianna Fáil won't win a seat in Roscommon-Galway if they don't run a two candidate strategy in the next general election. He lost out by eight votes to Dr. Martin Daly at last night’s selection convention in the Abbey Hotel in Roscommon town.

Fianna Fáil decided to select only one candidate for the forthcoming election with many local delegates supporting Senator Murphy's call for a two candidate strategy. Senator Murphy says the party have to run a candidate in the north of the constituency alongside Dr. Daly:
