Roscommon senator Eugene Murphy will not find out today whether he'll be running for Fianna Fáil in the general election - despite hoping the matter would be finalised tonight. The party's constituencies committee has been considering adding him to the ticket in Roscommon-Galway, after he lost out to Ballygar GP Martin Daly in a selection convention.
The issue will be raised at a meeting of Fianna Fáil's national executive this evening, but there will be no decision today. Councillor Sean Moylan, from Tulsk, believes Senator Murphy should run alongside Dr Daly:
