A Roscommon senator has welcomed an announcement that allows Ireland to establish a new reduction period under the Beef Emergency Aid Measures scheme.
It was confirmed this week that a new deadline for farmers to meet the BEAM targets will apply from the 1st of January this year until New Year's Eve.
The previous reduction year target was from July last year to June of this year.
Senator Eugene Murphy has welcomed the change and is reminding farmers that the new reduction period will only apply to those farmers who opt to apply for the change.
