A Roscommon Senator believes home-owners need to be more security aware when posting on social media.
The message comes following a series of burglaries around the country in recent weeks.
Senator Eugene Murphy is urging the public to refrain from posting their whereabouts online in an effort to reduce the risk of being burgled.
He says this information can assist thieves in knowing when a house is vacant.
The Roscommon senator is asking all community groups to be on alert and contact the Gardai if they notice any suspicious activity.
