A Leitrim Councillor believes the Fianna Fail party needs a new leader to guide them into the next General Election.
Mary Bohan says while Michael Martin has been a steady hand at the ship during the Covid pandemic it's now time for change.
Some backbenchers are calling on him to give up the party leadership when he steps down as Taoiseach at the end of the year.
Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show the Drumkerrin native feels the party's ratings are enough to question Michael Martin's position:
"When someone has been there for a very long time as leader of the party, and the party itself are not doing well in the polls, you know they look at everything, and they may have come to the conclusion that it is time for change and I think myself we will have a new leader."
