Frank Kilbride of Aughakilmore, Ballinalee in Longford officially plead guilty to three charges under money laundering legislation at Longford Circuit Court in January.

The sentencing of a former Longford politician and hotelier has been delayed for a further two weeks.

Frank Kilbride of Aughakilmore, Ballinalee in Longford officially plead guilty to three charges under money laundering legislation at Longford Circuit Court in January.

The charges state Mr Kilbride, on various dates between October 2017 and March 2018, engaged in converting, transferring, handling, acquiring and possessing property that was the proceeds of criminal conduct to the approximate amount of €1.7 million.

A second charge brought against the former Fine Gael politician had him taking part in money laundering between November 2017 and March 2018, to the amount of €867,143.

A third charge, bringing the total to €2.6 million, included the handling, possession and conversion of €10,000 of proceeds of criminal conduct.

He will appear before the court again on Friday, July 26th.
