Several community groups in the Shannonside are to receive funding to help asylum seekers and refugees integrate into society.
The International Protection fund is making 1.6 million euro in funding available to not-for-profit community-based organisations across Ireland.
It's part of the Government's overall plan to end direct provision and to establish a new International Protection Support Service.
The Leitrim Volunteer Centre's Community Care Scheme has been awarded €20,000.
Africa Solidarity Centre, which operates in Longford, will share a total of €48,000 between offices across the country to help in 'understanding the Asylum Process.' New Horizons, which is based in Athlone has been granted a total of over €44,000 to provide Integration Support Services in Longford, Roscommon, and Westmeath.
Several other groups in the region have also received funding including LGBT Ireland and National Youth Council of Ireland.
