Several million euro worth of damage was caused by a massive fire in Longford town yesterday. It broke out at around 1.30 in the morning in Grafton Court and was eventually brought under control by the fire service. It spread to up to 13 business units and many longstanding businesses were destroyed.
The fire is believed to have started outside, but gardai are also investigating possible smoke on the upper floors of the building before the blaze started. Grafters Hair Company is one the businesses badly affected, and salon owner Pauline Belton is devastated by the damage done.
Alpha Medical Clinic, on the first floor of Grafton Court, was also badly damaged, and its owner, Dr Roumaissa Slami, was also devastated.
These local people visited the scene yesterday to see the damage.
