Several areas in the Shannonside region are celebrating today after securing major honours at this year's Tidy Towns competition
Keadue in Co.Roscommon won the regional award for the northwest region and Ballintubber took home first prize in the heritage category.
Abbeyshrule and Carrick-On-Shannon won the county award for Longford and Leitrim respectively.
Athlone Canal Heritage and Kilteevan were also highly commended in the water and communities category.
Other towns in the region including Dromod, Roscommon Town, Newtowncashel, Longford Town, and Cloontuskert all took home Bronze or Gold medals.
Moore, Co.Roscommon, Barry, Co.Longford, and Dromahair, Co.Leitrim all took home an endeavour award for the biggest percentage increase in their scores from last year.
