Severe overcrowding at Sligo Emergency Department today

Emergency Departments in Sligo and Portiuncula Hospitals are under severe pressure this morning.

Sligo University Hospital is the second busiest ED in the country today with 42 people waiting on trolleys or chairs according to the INMO.

That's followed by UHG in 3rd place nationally, with 30 patients on trolleys and 6 patients waiting for a bed in wards.

Staff at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe are reporting an extremely busy morning with 16 people waiting for admission today.

While, 7 patients are on trolleys in the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar.

Nationally, 398 admitted patients are waiting for beds this morning, with 78 of those at University Hospital Limerick.
