Sexual violence counselling service for 12 to 18-year-olds set up in Athlone

A counselling service for people aged between 12 and 18 years old, who have suffered sexual violence, has been set up in Athlone.

This specialised service is run by Athlone Midlands Rape Crisis Centre.

The centre already provides counselling in the town, along with Roscommon town, Monksland, Mullingar, Longford town and Boyle.

But manager Pauline Cahillane says they wanted to set up a dedicated service for adolescents.
