Civil defence crews in Leitrim and Roscommon were called to assist in three incidents on along the Shannon over the weekend.
Roscommon boat crew members who out on routine boat training on Sunday on the Shannon, came to the assistance of a cruiser near Rooskey and another at the bridge in Tarmonbarry, with 9 people on board.
Following a risk assessment, children and two adult women were taken to the nearby pier temporarily, while the assistance of the lock keepers raised the bridge and reduced the flow of the river and the boat crew assisted in re floating the cruiser.
In Leitrim, a civil defence crew was also activated to assist a cruiser near Leitrim village.
Full PPE measures were in place throughout including face shields and extra gloves.
