Communities across the Shannonside region are being encouraged to consider accommodating refugees under a new government initiative.
Around 20 Syrian families are to be accommodated in towns and villages nationally under a community sponsorship programme.
It's hoped that dozens more will be able to settle in local areas which show an interest in opening their communities to refugees from abroad.
The government is hoping to match families to suitable areas with a ready-made network already in place to help their integration.
