Counties in the Shannonside region have been placed under a status yellow low temperature and ice warning tonight. The alert comes into effect from 8pm tonight until 12 noon on Thursday.
Elsewhere from midnight Clare, Cork, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford are under a Status Orange - Snow and Ice warning where significant snowfall accumulations are anticipated. Cathal Nolan from Irelands Weather Channel says the cold spell will continue for at least the next 48 hours:
