Voters in the Shannonside region have resoundingly voted against the 39th amendment to the constitution.
An average of 73.5% of voters across Roscommon-Galway, Sligo-Leitrim, and Longford-Westmeath voted 'No'.
Longford-Westmeath had the highest proportion of 'No' votes at 74.6% with a turnout of 40.6%, equating to almost 28,000 'No' votes versus 9,497 'Yes' votes. 74% of voters in Roscommon-Galway voted 'No', with a turnout of 43.7%. While Sligo-Leitrim, with a 42.7% turnout, returned a 71.9% 'No' vote. The highest proportion of votes against the proposal nationally was Cavan-Monaghan, with 78.1%. Only Dún Laoghaire voted majority 'Yes' with 50.3% in favour.
