2023 was the worst year for road deaths in over a decade according to the RSA.
184 people were killed on Irish roads last year, with 11 road fatalities occurring in the Shannonside region.
Roscommon had the highest number of road deaths in the region with 6 people losing their lives in 2023.
Leitrim saw 3 road fatalities last year whilst 2 people died on roads in Longford.
The number of road fatalities across the region increased by 3 last year compared to 2022.
Nationally, Tipperary had the highest amount of road deaths with 16, whilst Dublin and Cork also seen 15 people lose their lives on roads last year.
Meanwhile, the number of Gardaí working in roads policing in 2023 was at its lowest in 6 years.
Department of Justice data analysed by the advocacy group Parc and published in the Irish Times, shows there were 641 Gardaí assigned to roads policing at the end of November, 47 less than at the start of last year.
