Four schools in the Shannonside region are among the first to offer new Leaving Certificate subjects from next year.
It was announced this week that subjects of Drama, Film and Theatre Studies and Climate Action and Sustainable Development will be phased into some schools.
57 post-primary schools nationally have been selected to introduce Leaving Certificate Drama, Film and Theatre Studies from the start of the 2025/26 school year.
These include Elphin Community College and Abbey Community College, Boyle in Co. Roscommon along with Lough Allen College, Drumkeerin in Co. Leitrim.
Meanwhile, 43 schools have been selected for Climate Action and Sustainable Development subject including Scoil Mhuire in Strokestown.
