Over six hundred thousand euro in funding has been allocated for community projects across the Shannonside region.
The CLAR funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development is designed to develop and upgrade community facilities in rural areas.
€625,071 in funding has been approved for 16 local projects.
Longford received the highest allocation of funds under the CLAR programme locally, with €236,832 to be split between seven projects.
This includes almost €50,000 for groundworks at St. Mary's National School in Newtowncashel, €45,000 for an outdoor area at the Bridgeways Family Resource Centre and over €37,000 for the Latin School Community Centre.
Another five projects in Leitrim are to share €213,671 including a €44,000 allocation to Carrigallen Parish Council and almost €43,000 for upgrade works at the Bee Park Field car park.
€174,568 has been awarded to Roscommon projects, with Ballagh Community Hub receiving the maximum award of €50,000 for works to the parochial house.
Other projects receiving to receive funding in the county include Bealach Nua, Ballaghaderreen and Ballinameen GAA clubs.
The awards are part of a national fund of over 7 million euro and Minister for Rural Community Development Heather Humphreys commend the work of all the successful applicants.
