The first female recipient of the Freedom of County Longford has spoken of the honour of being chosen for the title.
The award was bestowed upon College Park native Shaunagh Connaire for her work in the area of human rights and investigative journalism.
Shaunagh has travelled across the world in reporting on human rights abuses, including working in the Ebola zone of West Africa, the Middle East and undercover reporting in China.
The Longford Woman is currently working as the Director of Communications at the Clooney Foundation for Justice, founded by Amal and George Clooney.
